Most people got into them as children and kept them going into their adulthood. My brother would spend hours reading them, collecting them (when he moved to London he left me with a shed-load), but I never got into them. Until recently.

I began reading "The Walking Dead" after watching the TV series and was hooked. I've since moved onto various Marvel stories (Ultimate Avengers, Zombies, Dark Tower) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for me? There's a local book store where I can get Marvel collections for pretty cheap and I want to delve further.

I'm not really into single comic books, rather those big collections, so if you could recommend some stuff like that I would be grateful.

The Dark Knight and The Killing Joke will always pop up, but rightfully so, as they're supremely written Batman stories.

Watchmen is another...

The Sandman graphic novels are very good as well, some lulls, but in general excellent.

I'm much like you, liked them when I was young, only recently discovering again.

I'm not much of a comic collector myself but nowadays whenever good comics are out there I never usually have the cash on me.

Probably Sin City, Watchmen and Kick Ass are the obvious bunch. I would also recommend Preacher and The Boys.

Bit out of touch with The Walking Dead, much like the TV series I just lost interest, but the first few books are excellent.

Batman wise, the Frank Miller ones are must reads: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns. The Long Halloween, Killing Joke and Hush are all great too; and Joker by Brian Azzarello has some really exceptional artwork.

This is a little different to move of the comics i go on about etc but have you tried the one that was tied in with The Last Of Us, I think it's called American Dream.
And a book by Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon. It's called Raised By Raptors and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Read Superman: Red Son. I hate Superman, but this is the best one-shot graphic novel EVER!

Others, some of which have been mentioned already:

Killing Joke
Old Man Logan
The Boys
House of M
Civil War
Batman Black and White
Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine
Preacher

Top tip: only read comics recommended to you. Don't just random buy them. Leads to shite!

And Read all of the Sin City graphic novels.

They are amazing.

Also the Hellboy ones are a decent read.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns was the comic that got me into reading them when I was you get. Loved Frank Millers take and cemented my life long love for comics!

Will agree with Red Son, excellent Superman graphic novel and I also enjoy All-Star Superman.

Crisis on Infinite Earth was pretty good

Something a little out of left field - try Swamp Thing from when Alan Moore took over the series in 1984; he completely transformed the character and made a true classic that I've always adored!
