As I'm sure everyone knows, students don't generally have a lot of money. Or at least that's how I'm looked at whenever I go anywhere. I just thought it would be a good idea to do a student gaming special.

Got the idea when I listened to the podcast that featured what's his face Joey or something. You know, that Spanish geezer. I don't know how big it would be on the forums, but I know a load of my fellow students would give it a listen. Especially as we have a huge games department down here at our Uni.

Just a brief idea for the time, I can think more about it if needs be, but just wanted to see what everyone else thought about it.

Bloody students!

I think a lot of the buying tips apply to everyone, not just students. Renting, exchanging with friends, using cashback sites, buying only when on sale are all valid for anyone on a tight budget.

Back when I went to Uni me and my flatmates didn't tend to buy many games. We just made the most of playing games like Goldeneye and Mario Kart all the time. The Internet wasn't much of a thing back then either, so we were stuck with rip off merchants like HMV and Virgin Megastore where those N64 games were like £60!

You students have got it easy these days with your Steam Sales, deal hunting websites, and Playstation Plus :-P

A whole episode devoted to bargain hunting saving money would be a great idea (although I think we touched on that not too long ago, it did go down really well).

as for students... I don't really have any feet in that world.... :-D

2 bottles of Jamesons for £17 at Tesco.

That's all the bargain hunting I'd have needed as a student. Hell I was tempted today but the amount I drink these days 2 bottles is a decades supply.

Surely the bargain hunting is the same principle no matter who you are?

You could say that. It is more of the balancing gaming and Uni to be fair. Plus, you have to bargain hunt for noodles as well :P

Ah, Pot noodle on toast, I just about remember those days.

I do think coin saving is the priority whatever your job status is, but the most important aspect is saving money in a title you won't lose too many hours in, as you don't want to be failing your courses..

Yeah. I can tell you that balancing gaming and coursework is a right pain. I think i have completed about two maybe three games in the last four years. It is a bloody nightmare balancing those two and everything else. GF, social life, work. Such a chore.

I went the other way and ignored any university work.

Might explain why it took me 5 years to get a third

This is the challenge. Try and do as little work as possible whilst getting as high a mark as you can. That's the real game.
