Has a subscription been officially ruled out as an option? Would seem odd after trialing the $99 with a subscription thing last year.

The only thing I heard was that Sky are not going to sell Xbox One hardware as part of their subscription service.

No, but what can they offer for a substantial subscription that isn't Sky or Virgin?

They could still sell it cheap with a 24 month contract and chuck in a live sub and maybe some of their premium TV content

I think that the issue that most people have is that they're having things taken away from them without any real benefit to the consumer. Lets face it - this is in place to please the publishers, not customers.

I think it also adds on a lot of things that people already dislike about the 360 - a paid subscription just to play multiplayer, ads on the dashboard (even when paying said subscription), a feeling of alienation among core gamers as it is, etc - I think it's a lot of little things adding up and people are just getting fed up of it. Not to mention this is all kind of confusing. I'm still not sure I understand this used games system properly.

Hopefully Sony won't have this in place. If I have a physical disc I expect to be able to resell it if I want without restriction - if I'm paying for a download then I expect it to be cheaper than the disc is.

Always online nonsense aside, I would be very very surprised if Sony's used game model was any better.
They would be shouting from the rooftops if it was.

Sony has been making a few jokes about DRM on Twitter - to me this would indicate that Sony doesn't have any plans for DRM - if they do then this would be some pretty condescending PR and would really ruin the positive reaction to the PS4 so far.

If Sonys solution isn't any better than Microsofts then I shan't buy either console and will just stick with my PC.

It would seem really odd if they took opposite stances on the used game and drm issues. I certainly hope Sony has a more open view on things.

I think it's funny that Microsoft have said that renting won't be available at launch, when you're actually renting any game you buy a license to use! It'll be interesting to see how this approach compares to Steam, but I just can't see the same low launch prices or sales that digital only games get on Steam.

agreed - signing in every 24 hours is a pain in the arse
the kinect coming as compulsory is shite - will add extra cost to the console for shit i dont want
and no rentals just made my blood boil |_()

Assuming the XBL fee/contract would go upto a tenner a month then I wouldnt be happy paying it beyond the 24 months. Needs a big partnership to work and it doesnt look like the UK will get one.

Is anyone else creeped out by the Kinect always watching and listening?

I am and I won't be getting it, not even after two year (my original plan)
